Introduction

Hi! We are from PeiCai Secondary School.
We are doing a project about the low birth rate in Singapore.
We have interviewed 9 people between 20-40 years old to find out more about the causes of low birth rate in Singapore. We also asked the people about their views on how Singapore can improve birth rate. Our blog will analyse the causes of low birth rate in singapore.

BackGround Information

Population:

Singapore occur a low birth rate as people now adays have higher education and  they might  choose  their career rather than married.And by the age they succed in their job,they will aready be in their 30s .and the chances to get pregnant most singaporen consider to have a small family ,as if they have a bigger family thay will need to use more money .so if they have a smaller family they can give the better education for their child .due to better hygiene,meidcal and health care.Old people are having longer live span.

Leseser childrens are born there might not be replacement for the elders  and hence Singapore is very concern about the low birth rate as if this continue the elderlies might need to extend their working life.

Methodology

The  following questions we asked are :

married :

      · How many children do you have

       ·    before you married how many children do you planned to have?

        ·  would you wish to have another child ( if the passenger only has one child)

        · when you had your first child,what do you expect the government to give u?

not married :

        · what is the reason for you not to marry at a young age

        · how many children do you wish to have when you are married 

        ·    what do you think about the low birth rate in singapore
        ·   if the government give you policy ,what do you wish to get

•  what is the reason for you to have that amount of children

Results and Analysis

We have interviewed 8 people,we do our interview indivisually.Some of us interviewed our parents while some interviewed in the public.We have interviewed 3 parents,two tution teacher,a dish worker who had divorced,sa tore holder of a snack shop.Their age are between 20-65 and they all have children.

two out of eight people actually married in their 20s ,wants to have 2 children before their marriage and after their marriage they also have two children.they said that if there were more helpers to help them they would have given birth to more children .the dish woker has also married very young however she divorced in her0s and she has need to take care of chidren by her own.

the other 6 people married in their 30s,40s,the reason for them to married so late as they wanted to earn more money in their early 20s and concentrate on thier career.One of them have preference for son but he has now 2 daughters as due to his age he cant have another child.while the others have really great succed in their caceer but they has only 1 child by now ,and doesnt feel like having more children .

Conclusion

In conclusion,the reason why people do not want to have more children is because they cannot afford the high cost of living in Singapore.Most parents will need to work and do not have the time to take care of them.We learn more about the causes of Singapore's low birthrate and how to interview people.This is really an intresting project.I hope there are more projects like this in the future.

This is much more intersting than learning from the text book ，i have gone to ask 3 people and have know that singapore is really facing low rate of population ,goverment should that steps inoder to change this situation.people really does not feel like getting married early ,they is moe concern about their caceer
